‘Mont des Cieux’ is a luxury home development, four and a half years in the making.
With breathtaking views of Okanagan Lake in Canada, the property is beautiful from every angle, both indoors and out. Constructed primarily of steel, concrete, and glass, Mont des Cieux balances contemporary design with a feeling of warmth and natural ambiance.
For Scott Ross, the founder of Timberhaven Homes, designing, building, styling, and seeing this prestigious home come to life has been a fulfilling experience. The project has been a true team effort, with Scott’s wife, Heather, playing a pivotal role in guiding the choices for furniture and interior finishes and helping shape the home’s unique style.
Here we explore the completed development, featuring King Living designs throughout, and ask Scott to share his insights.

The vision for the home was to create a contemporary design that prioritised every detail, presenting the look and feel of exceptional quality from all angles.
“Our client loves architecture, and the sole purpose was to build a unique, beautiful, contemporary hillside property,” Scott explained. “It was all about quality over quantity and very modern, clean finishes.”
From the glass-enclosed elevator that seamlessly connects the various levels to the imported triple-pane windows from Austria and millwork from Italy, the development is anything but ordinary.
“Everything was done to the highest level and had a uniqueness to it. We thought, let’s not do what everyone else is doing. Let's look outside the box. And that's what we did,” Scott added.

When it came time to select furniture for the home, Scott’s wife Heather had recently discovered King Living and insisted he see the Australian furniture designs for himself.
“When Heather and I went into the showroom in Vancouver on Granville Street for the first time I knew the whole house needed to be done with King Living.” Scott shared. “The quality, the price point, the design, it all suited the architecture of the house. Our clients visited the showroom soon after and just fell in love with the furniture."
While beautiful aesthetics are a must, comfort was also a key consideration in the decision to choose King Living designs.
“We felt the designs were practical and livable, and not so contemporary, where it's uncomfortable. We didn’t want it to be a showpiece to sit there, not touch.”
“Everything in our home is now King Living as well,” Scott added.

For every home, and especially one as unique as this luxury development, customising the furniture, fabrics, and finishes to fit into the overall aesthetic seamlessly and feel perfectly placed is essential.
Knowing that every King Living design would be made to order to his exact specifications helped Scott simplify this process.
“Between the type of fabric, the colour, and the texture, we had so many options that we could play with," Scott explained. “And one of the great benefits of the product line is you can really create your own.”

One of the primary living areas in the home is a grand open-plan living area spanning over 8.53 x 9.14 meters (28 x 30 feet), for which Scott needed a perfectly fitting design.
“We could make the sofa as large as we wanted to accommodate the space,” said Scott. “The sofa actually started as one massive sectional, and we decided to split it into two sectionals. It’s fantastic that you can mix and match and play with your furniture.”
Scott, who is also the development's listing agent, was inspired to change the sofa's layout during a photoshoot at the property.
“We rearranged it during a photoshoot to break it up and make it feel different. And when the client came in, she was amazed by how different the whole space looked, even though it was all the same furniture.”

With stunning architecture at every turn and breathtaking views of Okanagan Lake, every room offers something unique. For Scott, the upper sitting room is one of his favourite spaces.
"It’s one of the smaller rooms and only has a view of the hillside. But I love the furniture in it, and I love its peacefulness. It’s all just glass into the hillside,” Scott shared. “The lake view is always spectacular, but to me, that sitting room is so comfortable and quiet.”
